Introduction to Linux

Ref: LKLXI

This one day course is designed for users of a Linux based computer system hosting applications accessed via PCs/Workstations on a Local Area Network or of Linux on PC hardware. This course is ideal for students with little or no prior knowledge of Linux or UNIX. The course is a starting point for network administrators, intranet builders, webmasers and database administrators who are moving to a Linux environment.

Using a hands on approach, the course introduces the student to Linux. The key Linux commands and functions are covered. At the end of the course the student will be able to make effective use of the Linux operating system, enhancing their use of applications running in this environment.

This course attempts to be independent of a particular distribution of Linux; reference will be made to major distributions where relevant.
